Rating K-18
“The most purely horrifying horror movie ever made. — Tobe Hooper's sick, inventive little film remains as disturbing, suspenseful and shattering as the day it first saw the light of a drive-in screen.”
– Kim Newman, Empire Magazine
"When you make a film that goes beyond filmmaking, it's no longer just a movie."
– Nicolas Winding Refn on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
"Set the standard for all future slasher films. What's remarkable is how funny it is – although it takes several viewings to truly appreciate the humor."
– Jim Morton, Re/Search #10: Incredibly Strange Films
"Horror movies, by their very nature, are confrontational. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, like Psycho, was even more than that. It was a full scale assault on the audience's sensibilities and nerve ends. — It remains to this day one of the scariest horror movies ever made"
– John McCarty, The Modern Horror Film
